 WILL POWER!!! The time has come to rally around one of our Lexington families! William Schaefer was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. This is a  type of cancer of the lymph nodes. He is currently receiving chemotherapy to cure this cancer and has a 4-6 month battle ahead of him to conquer the lymphoma.  Will is doing well and wants to thank all of you for the thoughts, prayers and support. One way to continue to support Will and others who have or had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma is to wear Flourescent green on Friday!!  Will's cancer fighting slogan is WILL POWER!!   I also want to share with you a fundraiser in support of William and the LAMPSTRONG Foundation. A t-shirt has been designed to show support to William in his fight against Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. The proceeds from the sale of t-shirts will go to the LampStrong Foundation. THANK YOU!   Testing has begun again! We are well into our End of Year PARCC assessments. The students have done a wonderful job with the new format of testing and it has all gone better than we could have imagined! The staff and students of Lexington Junior High would like to send a huge "thank you" to the Academic Boosters. This is a wonderful organization that helps us with more than I even realize. Procrastination   is one of the more common problem areas that students battle. Every year I meet some students who are "master procrastinators." The reality is that some people don't mind putting everything off until the last possible second and then working like crazy to get everything accomplished before the deadline, but this can result in a lot of unnecessary stress. Procrastination certainly doesn't mean that you are lazy or incapable, but it is often a sign that something is getting in your way of completing your tasks and responsibilities. If you are interested in learning strategies for gaining control over your tendencies to procrastinate, it is important to remember that there are no quick fixes. As with most things in life, what works for one person will not necessarily work for someone else so it is important to find a strategy that will work effectively for  you . Rising Stars Engineering Camp Summer is sneaking up on us. What are your plans? Vacation, video games, friends, pool pass?  Here is one more option for current 6 th and 7 th grade students to consider!    Learn about mechanical engineering when you build and race your own robot!
