Rising Stars Engineering Camp

Summer is sneaking up on us. What are your plans? Vacation, video games, friends, pool pass? 

Here is one more option for current 6th and 7th grade students to consider! 



 

  • Learn about mechanical engineering when you build and race your own robot! The robot is yours to keep!
  • Learn about aeronautical engineering when you build and launch your own rocket! The rocket is yours to keep!
  • Learn about green engineering when you build a solar panel and a windmill!
  • Learn basic physics and how it affects engineering!

This week long camp is only $80 and offered in nearby Shelby. Applications are available in the Junior High office.

Is it Spring yet?   Are you enjoying our long weekend?  I do not know about you, but these few days have been a huge asset for me to be able to get caught up on some of the work that I needed to do.  I hope that you have also made use of these days and were able to get caught up on anything you were behind on and prepared for the weeks ahead.   Obviously, one challenge of the cold days is that it impacted the PARCC testing schedules.  On Tuesday we will begin the Geometry test. We will also make-up any students that missed a portion of the Algebra test.  A reminder for the 8th grade students, your English testing will begin this week also. There will be three sessions: February 27th, March 3rd and March 5th.  Next week the 7th graders will begin their English testing on March 2nd, March 4th and March 6th. Focus

Do you have trouble focusing? Here is a fun tip that ANYONE can use, at ANY TIME! All you need is a pen and 1 minute! Step 1: Find a pen or pencil. Step 2: Hold it up to your face, about 1 foot away. Step 3: Focus on the end of the pencil for 1 minute (setting a timer will help you to avoid being distracted). For this one minute of time, do not allow yourself to think about anything else! Just focus on the end of the pencil! This would be great to try before beginning your homework, studying, at the beginning of a big game or race, anytime! I would love to know what everyone thinks of this. I will be trying it also:) I challenge you to use this trick at least once this week!
