Confidentiality

It is very important to me that I work to earn your trust every day. During junior high there are times when you may wonder if there is anyone who cares and is willing to listen to what you are going through and I want to remind you that I am here for you. Please remember that what you say to me is confidential between us unless you are a risk to yourself or someone else in which case I am required to report it. If you want to meet with me - just drop by my office! That is honestly the BEST way to meet with me. You don't need to schedule an appointment in advance. You don't need a big reason to come down and say Hi. I am happy to see you even if you just wanted to tell me how well or how poorly you did on a test that day. If I am busy meeting with another student or parent - you can stop back down or leave your name at the front office.  Parents, the best way to reach me quickly is by email! law.jennifer@lexington.k12.oh.us

First Day Magic

Hello PARENTS! Welcome to the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Today is always an exciting day. No one can get their locker open, no one knows where they are going, everyone is nervous - but at the same time, we all have this HOPE that it is going to be an amazing year! I love that feeling. It is the magic of the first day of school and it never gets old! The first day of school can definitely be a stressful one. However, the lockers get better, students figure out where they need to be, and the nerves wear off. Unfortunately, some of that first day magic wears off also. With that in mind, I just want to say thank you for trusting us with your children, thank you for all of the pep talks leading up to this day, all of the shopping trips, all of the other million little things you have done to add to the "first day MAGIC"! We appreciate all that you do!

Open House

Good Morning! It was SO NICE to see everyone at OPEN HOUSE last night! Just a couple of notes before we start on WEDNESDAY! Any schedules that were changed or lockers that were fixed can be found in the file folder in the front office.  If there is a problem with your schedule, please tell me now. Schedules become much harder to fix once we are back to school.  If your locker opens, but is difficult - be patient and keep working with it. Remember, all lock combinations go like this: Turn to the RIGHT to land on the first number Turn to the LEFT to land on the second number (go around twice for this one)! Turn to the RIGHT to land on the last number Locker tips and tricks DO NOT rig your locker - it makes it worse.  Sometimes you have to pull the handle a few times, jiggle it (when you hear it click, it opened) Go slow and take your time. Most of the time this is the problem in opening lockers.   The building is open from 8 am - 3 pm every day for anyone who still ne

Welcome!

WELCOME to the 2019-2020 school year! I am the School Counselor at the Junior High. I have been here for 12 years and honestly, each year is better than the last! I earned my Bachelor's degree from THE Ohio State University and my Master's degree from the University of Toledo. I am a Licensed School Counselor (LSC), not a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). School Counselors work within three broad domains: academic, career, and social/emotional development. These domains promote mindsets and behaviors that enhance the learning process and create a culture of college and career readiness for all students. Here are a few things you may want to contact me about this year! Academic concerns Social concerns Big changes at home Recommendations for outside counseling Available community resources and help Recommendations for outside tutors Anything that may affect your student's learning If you do not know who to talk to about something, you can always start with
