Winter break is right around the corner! This is always a busy, crazy, drama-filled, exciting, and FUN week at the Junior High! The sense of peace and calm that some associate with the holiday season is NOT apparent here at Lexington Junior High! And we would not have it any other way:) This Friday will be crazy as always. Here is the schedule!   7:40 - 1st period Tardy bell  8:00 - Fire & Ice Performance. The Fruitcake song is a Lexington tradition! 8:30 - Students report to 2nd period  *There will be more surprises throughout the day* 2:05-2:20 - Toy Time winner presentation. (The dreaded Whip & NaeNae! ) 2:21 - Winter Break begins! I hope everyone has a wonderful break and a happy holiday! Hopefully, we can all find a few minutes to relax at some point too!

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS! Toys for Tots Student Council will be sponsoring a Toy Drive. This event will run from December 7-11 th . This will be a BOYS V. GIRLS competition! There will be a prize and it is guaranteed to be entertaining!  CACY Food Drive   CACY is in the middle of their annual food drive. We are collecting non-perishable items to donate to Grace Episcopal Church’s food pantry. This is a time of year to give and be grateful. Please help us help others by sending in your non-perishable items. Students are entered in a raffle for an individual prize and the classroom with the most items will also get a prize! The last day is MONDAY, November 23 rd ! (There was an earlier post about this if you would like more details).    Girl Talk Girl Talk is the newest club at the Junior High! High School students volunteer their time to mentor our junior high girls. We meet as a group every Thursday after school. There is a snack, activity, and lesson each week. Th

Meet the Dean! As most of you know, Mr. Rastetter stepped down as Dean of Students. He is fulfilling his dream as Otterbein’s head wrestling coach. The staff and students are all incredibly excited for this new opportunity, but sad to see him go.  Until someone can take over full-time, an Interim Dean of Students has been selected! Mr. Jay Schmidt has 36 years of experience with Lexington Local Schools. He served 23 years as a teacher and 13 years in administration. He has also been involved in the Lexington Athletic program on many levels. He has coached Girls High School Basketball, Boys High School Basketball, High School Track, High School Cross Country, Junior High Girls Basketball, and Junior High Track. Mr. Schmidt is in his 5 th year of retirement from Lexington, but has never stopped coaching, making this his 41 st year working with Lexington students! In his spare time, Mr. Schmidt enjoys golfing, cycling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
