Lexington High School
Scheduling for the 2016-2017 School Year

Students, Parents and Teachers,

As we begin the scheduling process for next school year, please keep in mind that every high school student will have an individual scheduling appointment with his/her counselor during the fourth grading period so that we can address all your questions.  We want to ensure that all students are scheduled correctly; selecting courses that are recommended by their teachers and building a course load that is appropriately challenging and balanced.  We ask that students, parents and teachers follow the scheduling process outlined below so that we can meet the needs of all students.

  1. Curriculum Guides/registration sheets will be distributed to students during their scheduling assembly in February.  Students and parents can access the Curriculum Guide on the high school website at www.lexington.k12.oh.us for specific course information.
  2. Teachers begin general discussions with classes about recommendations in January.  Students fill out preliminary course selections on the course planning sheet (reverse) and write down questions for their counselors to bring to scheduling presentations.
  3. There will be a scheduling assembly with each class in February. Administration and counselors will present scheduling information, answer specific questions and assist with course selections.
  4. Students will ask their teachers to initial course selections.  If the teacher does not recommend the student for a selected course, the teacher will write NR for Not Recommended.  (If the student still chooses to take the non-recommended course, they may do so with parent permission.)
  5. Students ask their parent/guardian to sign the course selection sheet. Changes may still be made by counselors after course selection sheets are submitted as we continue to discuss scheduling with parents and students.
  6. Counselors will meet with students for their individual scheduling appointments to review the course selections and suggest changes if needed, review credits, four-year plans, grades, test scores from End of Course Exams, EXPLORE, PSAT, ACT and discuss college and career planning.

Tentative Scheduling Calendar:
Class of 2017 – February 1st Scheduling Assembly – February 2 – February 5, 2016.
Class of 2018 – February 8th Scheduling Assembly – February 9 – February 12, 2016.

Class of 2020 – February 19th Scheduling Assembly 7th period at the high school – February 29 – March 4, 2016

We value the opportunity to meet with every student for an individualized scheduling appointment each year to assist with academic, college and career planning.  We look forward to working with all of you over the next few months.  Thanks for your cooperation and assistance throughout the scheduling process!
