Scheduling for 8th Grade!



Today I am working with 7th grade History classes to register for classes for the 2018-2019 school year!

Some notes about scheduling:

  •  Choir now requires teacher signature to enroll. In addition, both parents and students are required to sign the contract/expectations on the back of the registration form. This course will be limited to 50 students per section. 
  • Other classes that require teacher signature: English 8+, Foreign Language, Choir, Metal/Glass Work
  • Courses taught at (or above) the high school level: Foreign Language and Enriched Algebra I

**NEW Art Courses for 2018-2019!**

Next year, Mrs. Fraizer is excited to offer two additional art courses! In addition, she has made some changes to the Art 8 curriculum that will give students more freedom and choice.

Art 8 Exploration

Through this course, you will have the freedom to choose from different mediums (materials) for each of your projects. You will develop your artistic skills by choosing the subject matter, materials and approach. This course is student-driven and will require more independence, self-assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving.

Folk Art 

In this course you will be learning and creating functional or practical visual art forms created by hand. Examples of folk art are as follow: basket weaving, sewing, paper arts, pottery, wood painted signs are just to name a few, however, subject material will be determined by availability of local folk artist.

  • Art 8 is a prerequisite for this course.

Metal/Glass work for Beginners 

In this course you will be developing skills and learning techniques that pertain to metal and glass work. The metal techniques that you will learn is piercing, sanding, hammering, riveting, wire wrapping. The glass techniques you will learn to use are cutting, enameling, fusing (tack and full) and possibly slumping.

  • Art 8 is a prerequisite for this course. 
  • Due to the materials and skills used, students must get approval from Mrs. Fraizer to enroll in this course.


**Registration forms must be turned in to History teachers no later than Friday, March 9th**

Is it Spring yet?   Are you enjoying our long weekend?  I do not know about you, but these few days have been a huge asset for me to be able to get caught up on some of the work that I needed to do.  I hope that you have also made use of these days and were able to get caught up on anything you were behind on and prepared for the weeks ahead.   Obviously, one challenge of the cold days is that it impacted the PARCC testing schedules.  On Tuesday we will begin the Geometry test. We will also make-up any students that missed a portion of the Algebra test.  A reminder for the 8th grade students, your English testing will begin this week also. There will be three sessions: February 27th, March 3rd and March 5th.  Next week the 7th graders will begin their English testing on March 2nd, March 4th and March 6th.
