Meet the Dean! As most of you know, Mr. Rastetter stepped down as Dean of Students. He is fulfilling his dream as Otterbein’s head wrestling coach. The staff and students are all incredibly excited for this new opportunity, but sad to see him go.  Until someone can take over full-time, an Interim Dean of Students has been selected! Mr. Jay Schmidt has 36 years of experience with Lexington Local Schools. He served 23 years as a teacher and 13 years in administration. He has also been involved in the Lexington Athletic program on many levels. He has coached Girls High School Basketball, Boys High School Basketball, High School Track, High School Cross Country, Junior High Girls Basketball, and Junior High Track. Mr. Schmidt is in his 5 th year of retirement from Lexington, but has never stopped coaching, making this his 41 st year working with Lexington students! SLEEP The first day of school is almost half finished! Anyone have a difficult time getting up this morning? I know I am still working on getting to bed earlier. Switching back to school mode can be a difficult transition. Sleep is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT! Here is a great article discussing the HUGE impact sleep has on school!   Know! For tweens and teens, this transition is especially challenging. Their body clocks are programmed to stay up later and sleep in later. 8th Grade Pioneer Trip The 8 th grade students recently visited Pioneer Career & Technology Center. This is a trip we take every year.   Pioneer has 28 different programs students can complete during their Junior and Senior years of high school. Many of these programs include licensing/certification for future careers. Others offer college credit that provide students a head start in their chosen profession.
